Education and language
Education and language learning are central purposes. The statutes envisage seminars, conferences, vocational training and language courses in cooperation with German and Turkish institutions.

DARDANEL brings the cultural and historical heritage of Çanakkale together with education, youth work and German–Turkish understanding. These purposes are set out in the association’s statutes dated 18 March 2017.
Young people and sport
Youth support, welfare and sport form part of the association’s purposes. The statutes also provide for addiction advice and prevention, alongside sporting and musical activities.
Culture and connection
The association seeks to preserve Turkish culture and traditions, particularly the cultural and historical heritage of Çanakkale. Community gatherings, exhibitions and excursions create opportunities to meet.
German–Turkish friendship
International understanding, German–Turkish friendship and the integration of Turkish people in Germany are established purposes. Under section 2, the association is politically independent.
Our story
A shared idea grew into a community. First imagined in 2012, brought to life at a gathering in Werl in 2015, and formally established as an association in 2017.

The idea takes shape
From 2012 onwards, we began thinking about forming an association: a place where people connected to Çanakkale could meet and strengthen their ties.

Our first gathering in Werl
On 24 December 2015, we held our first event in Werl. That gathering marked the first concrete step towards establishing the association.

DARDANEL is officially founded
DARDANEL – Çanakkaleliler Derneği e.V. was officially founded on 18 March 2017. The idea and those early gatherings had become an association of our own.
